7 ways to know the size of the ring discreetly and correctly

Instead of going to a jewelry store to find out what size ring you need, you can measure it yourself. It’s much quicker and more reliable. Here are my ways to find out the size when you want to surprise your loved one.

Method #1. A Band-Aid to the rescue

Use this method if you are not sure if you can estimate the size by eye, or if you do not have the proper measuring tools nearby.

Place the ring on your finger and mark where it fits, you can use a pen. The important thing is that the ring fits as perfectly as possible on that part of the finger.

Tape the finger with the left mark with a band-aid so as not to arouse suspicion.

Method #2. Circle the ring on the inside contour

To buy a girl a ring of the right size, you need to take her ring inconspicuously, place it on the paper and draw the inside contour. Then you can go to the store with this drawing or measure the circumference yourself: the diameter of the circle is the size.

You can also make a print of the ring on Plasticine or any other plastic material. Do not forget to wipe off the ring afterward so that your idea is not revealed.

Method #3: Make a model for the measurements

Take a piece of paper and roll it up. Insert it into the ring so that it is held loosely in it. Staple the roll in this position into a cylinder, making sure it will not unroll. Take it to the store or measure it yourself.

Method #4: A ready-made template

Use the already prepared templates by printing a picture with the pre-determined dimensions.

Simply apply the ring to the circles printed on the sheet of paper, focusing on the inner diameter.

Method #5: Measuring with a paper strip

Take a thin strip of paper.

Wrap it around the bottom phalanx of your finger. Do not tighten, it is better if the strip lies and moves freely around the finger.

Make a mark on the strip where the ends meet and cut off the excess.

Measure the length of the strip and determine the ring size from the chart below.

Method #6: Mathematical calculations
Here you will need your high school math skills. To find the diameter, do the previous method and use a ruler to find the length of the thread. Then divide the length of the inner circle by the number π (3.14). You will end up with a number that corresponds to the right size (look in the chart below).
Method #7: Use Ring Sizer
We placed the .pdf-file with the ring sizer at the beginning of the page. Print the document and cut the sizer out. Make a cut in it, into which a ruler is inserted. In this way a paper ring is obtained. It should be adjusted according to the size of the finger. This will be the size of the ring.
